Problem: Grinding when shifting into first gear
Solution: Could be a defective synchronizer in the gear

Problem: Grinding when shifting into second or more gears
Solution: Could be clutch not released all the way or a bad pilot bearing in the clutch

Problem: Grinding when shifting into reverse gear.
Solution: Could be the clutch not released fully
